In the Roland Park neighborhood of Baltimore, where old trees frame every street, a family set out to design a deck that would complement its setting — timeless in look, enduring in craft, and gentle to live with year-round. They chose Thermally Modified Red Oak, known for its warmth, rich grain, and long-lasting resilience. Made from locally salvaged wood and heat-treated without chemicals, it stands up to Mid-Atlantic winters while staying smooth and barefoot-friendly in the summer.
