Trim That Keeps Up

Matched to Your Field Material

Trim in the same species as our cladding and decking, so corners, fascia, and casing weather at the same rate and hold the same tone as the boards around them.

Rot-Resistant Without Chemicals

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur. Euismod diam mauris in massa amet id bibendum egestas.

Stable at the Joints

Trim absorbs far less water once modified, so it resists the movement that opens miters and telegraphs at corners and casing.

Weathers with the Wall

Silver naturally alongside the field, or hold the tone with the same penetrating oil. The trim and the wall stay in step either way.

Frequently asked

  • What trim does Cambium offer?

Exterior trim in five species, all made in the USA: Thermal Oak, Silky Cedar, Thermal Pine, Thermal Poplar (available from both the Carbon Smart Wood and Arbor Wood Co. lines), and Thermal Ash. It is designed to pair with our cladding and decking.

  • Can I match trim to my cladding or decking?

That is the whole idea. Order trim in the same species as your field material and the two weather together, aging to the same silver or holding the same oiled tone. Matching species also keeps grain and color consistent from board to corner.

  • What is thermally modified wood?

Wood that has been through a kiln process using only heat and steam, with no chemicals. It removes the moisture, sugars, and starches that cause rot and insect damage, and deepens the color through the full thickness of the board. Silky Cedar is the exception in this lineup: it is naturally durable rather than modified.

  • How is exterior trim installed?

Fasten with stainless steel, pre-drill to avoid splitting near ends, and seal cut ends to limit checking. Corners can be handled by butting against dimensional stock or with a mitered detail, depending on the look. The cladding and decking installation guides cover these details and are linked below.

  • Does it require maintenance?

No finish is required. Left unfinished, trim weathers to a silver-gray patina along with the wall. To hold the original tone, apply a penetrating oil with a UV colortone (CUTEK Extreme is recommended; clear oils alone are not UV resistant) and reapply as needed. Whatever you do to the field material, do to the trim so they stay in step.

  • Where does the wood come from?

All of it is American. Silky Cedar comes from Pacific Northwest forest thinning and post-fire removal. Thermal Oak is salvaged red oak. Thermal Poplar puts one of America's most abundant hardwoods to work, and the Arbor Wood species are domestically sourced and responsibly harvested.
