AIRE Ancient Baths Chicago

AIRE's glass-box sauna in Chicago needed reclaimed wood that could handle one of the harshest commercial environments around: daily high-heat, high-humidity use. Finnish Sauna Builders specified Carbon Smart Wood™ Thermal Poplar — a material processed in industrial kilns at 180–220°C using only heat and steam, no chemicals. The result is a denser, less porous wood that stands up to harsh conditions without sacrificing character. For AIRE, it delivered on the material spec and the aesthetic: a sauna interior that reads as genuinely elevated, not just durable.
