Western larch is Oregon's only deciduous conifer, and in fall its needles turn bright yellow before dropping. The wood is dense and resilient, the hardest-wearing of the region's softwoods underfoot, with a warm golden hue and clean, straight grain that deepens into a rich patina over time. Like all Zena flooring, larch is made as EdgeGrain: solid wood tiles built from ¾" strips rather than wide planks, assembled without glue and using more of every tree. Zena sources it from the higher elevations of northeastern Oregon, where it offers the warmth of a softwood floor with wear performance closer to hardwood.
