Tanoak

Tanoak isn't a true oak, but it shares oak's density and strength, with a fine grain and light color that mills into a quietly capable floor, one that wears well and finishes cleanly. Like all Zena flooring, tanoak is made as EdgeGrain: solid wood tiles built from ¾" strips rather than wide planks, assembled without glue and using more of every tree. Its groves in southwest Oregon are under pressure from Sudden Oak Death, a disease spreading through the region, and Zena mills tanoak from salvage operations, turning affected trees into flooring and supporting restoration.
