Oregon White Oak
Iconic hardwood of the Willamette Valley, dense and hard-wearing.
Oregon white oak is the iconic tree of the Willamette Valley and a keystone of one of the most ecologically complex ecosystems in the country, an oak savanna that once covered the valley and has since shrunk to a fraction of its original range. As flooring it's exceptional underfoot: dense and hard-wearing, harder than its eastern cousin, with tight grain and a warm, honeyed tone. Like all Zena flooring, it's made as EdgeGrain: solid wood tiles built from ¾" strips rather than wide planks, assembled without glue and using more of every tree. Zena grows and mills it on their FSC-certified Willamette Valley forestland, and every floor milled from restoration thinning supports the effort to bring this habitat back.
