Every Cambium order in one place

Introducing the Buyer Portal

The last time you ordered hardware for a job, you got a confirmation, a tracking link, and a delivery window you could plan a crew around. You never once wondered where the order was. Lumber has never worked that way.

For most of the contractors we talk to, ordering lumber goes something like this: a few phone calls to settle the order, a delivery date, and then silence. Is the material on its way? Hopefully. Held up at the kiln? You'll find out when it doesn't show up. The industry has run on "no news is good news" for so long that most buyers stopped expecting anything else. One contractor told us a single mid-rise project can mean a hundred phone calls between the sale and the delivery.

That's the expectation we want to retire. When we asked customers about tracking, most couldn't think of a single lumber supplier that offered it. Starting today, Cambium does: we're opening early access to the Buyer Portal.

Live status for every shipment, carrier and tracking details included.

What's in it?

One login, and every Cambium order in one place:

  • Track your order from shipment to delivery with live statuses at every stage, with carrier and tracking details once it ships
  • Get email and SMS updates as your order moves, so you don't have to go looking
  • See item-by-item detail for current and past orders, including specs, line-item pricing, and the carbon impact of products
  • Invite your team to an order so your PM and your site lead see the same thing you do
  • Add delivery notes like dock hours, gate codes, who to buzz, right on the delivery address
Every line item in print, including specs, pricing, and carbon impact.
A lot of businesses run on an old school mentality of, well, I'll just call my guy — and it's going to show up when it shows up. I like to be able to get something in print, review it, make sure it's correct — Alice Torvinen, Project Manager, Meteek and Company
Invite your team to any order, and leave delivery notes the carrier actually sees.

Why isn’t this the standard?

Because lumber is genuinely hard to track. A single board can pass through ten sets of hands on its way to your site: mill, kiln, processing, warehouse, carrier. Those hands are often spread across different companies and different states. Showing you where your order is means connecting every one of those steps, and most suppliers take one look at that problem and stick with the phone.

Connecting the wood supply chain is the reason Cambium exists. So that's what we're building.

How to get started

Getting in is the easy part (there's nothing to request!)
Place an order with Cambium the way you always have. If your products are in an early access category, tracking emails start arriving automatically, and your account is one click away: hit "Track your order" in any of those emails and you're in the portal. From there it's yours. Add your team, set delivery notes, and turn on texts.

Ordered recently and no tracking email?
Your products may not be covered yet — we're adding more every week, and we'd love to hear which orders you want visibility into: engineering@cambiumcarbon.com.
