Here's a taste of some new technology added into Space Empires IV for the EOTP Universe…
Terran Coalition:
Particle Cannon
Particle Cannons are one of the mainstay weapons of the Coalition Defense Force. They come in varying power ratings, the largest having an energy release of 400 terajoules, and are mounted on all classes of warships.
Hunter Missiles
These sophisticated missiles are the pride of the Coalition. Capable of anti-starship and anti-ground combat, the Hunters are fire-and-forget weapons with highly sophisticated computerization, sensors, and AI. After a priority list is downloaded into the missile immediately prior to launch, it travels on it's own, avoiding enemy point-defense and locking on to the best target available by priority. The computers factor in everything from enemy velocity to the intensity of enemy point-defense fire and range to determine the best target. Attempts by the League to deploy Hunters have noticeably failed. The Matrinads, however, are very close to finishing their own version.
League of Sol:
Plasma Cannon
Plasma cannons are the primary weapons mounted on starships of the League fleet. Unlike particle cannons, which direct their energy as both kinetic and thermal to do damage to enemy ships, plasma cannons are primarily thermal in nature, possessing very little relative kinetic damage potential. The most powerful plasma cannon is mounted on the League dreadnought designated the Behemoth-class: it has an energy rating of 500 terajoules per shot.
